A lovely March night lured several Triumphs from hibernation for Club Night. Charlie’s Stag, Chas’s TR6, Dan’s 2500 PI estate, Bob’s Vitesse now back on the road, and Rob’s Vitesse sporting a smart Honeybourne hard top. Too dark for any decent pics. Tales of head gasket failure and engine re-builds but good that Richard’s Vitesse passed MOT after a suspect rear wheel bearing turned out to be a dubious washer on the drive shaft to hub thread. Delighted to welcome Paul Johns to a meeting after many years, now re-building the Mk1 Spitfire he has owned for 40 years, another of the ‘Old Gits Club’ of 1980s membership. On the home front, both my 13/60 and Stag flew through their MOTs too with no advisories. Our first show of the year was the South Devon Railway Easter Show at Buckfastleigh over two days. Saturday saw Darren’s Spitfire, Rob’s Vitesse and the Richardson’s Stag there. Whilst the Sunday saw our 13/60 Herald and Shane’s car along with Vernon’s Dolomite from the Dolomite Club. The sun was out and for the first time for a long time we took the train to Totnes. In the spring sunshine and before the trees were in full bloom, the views of the river Dart were spectacular.
