November started with probably our last Triumph run of the year. A beautiful Devon autumnal day, with the colours shining out from a mainly clear blue sky. We met for breakfast at the Haldon Forest Diner on the A38 Southbound, with 24 of us there.[pic 2] It was my pleasure to present Lorraine Adams and Julian Clutterbuck with the Lingard Memorial Trophy for going over and beyond this year.[pic 3] I will not embarrass them by saying more, but there are people very grateful to them both. Wayne and his immaculate 2500 S was on his first run with us and we were joined by Greg & John in the MGB GT and Mark’s friend Richard in a rarity I have not seen before, an Opal Monza. Then off for our run, not as I thought either Otter Nurseries or Dawlish, but a lovely run through the Teign Valley to Exeter and then on to Exmouth where we parked up on the Esplanade for more pics. Thankfully Lorraine and Julian knew the way as there would undoubtedly have been a divorce in the Franklin household. [pic 4 and 5] Whilst there an immaculate Harley Davidson pulled up after seeing the Triumphs and it turned out he was a Somerset member some 30 years ago. Thank you to everyone who came along to our Club Night and AGM at the Star in November. Jonathan Chartres presented a good set of accounts and we reported on another great year for the Club in Devon. We will continue to meet at The Star at Liverton in 2026 as James and Heidi make us very welcome. We chatted about event planning for 2026 and have started to compile a list of dates and events. With the promised help of so many members, John and I were re-elected as Area Organisers for Devon and we will continue to do our best to ensure that you can all get the very best out of your Club membership. Congratulations to Martin who brought the lone Triumph out on a dark and chilly night.[pic1] Stan Walters We were very sorry to hear of the sad passing of Stan Walters recently. Stan was a huge part of the Club in Devon and was responsible for growing it into a viable area in the early 80s. Many of our members will remember him as Stan of S W Classics, who had an enviable reputation for restoring our Triumphs in the South West. Our condolences to his wife Sue. Inter Club Skittles We met up with the SOC and a few members from the Dolomite Club for our annual Inter Triumph Club Skittles. Organised as usual by Claire Purser at the Waie Inn, nearly 40 people took part. We were delighted to win the trophy again! [pic 2] SOC came second and the Dolomite Club in 3rd place. Low numbers from the Dolly Club didn’t matter as the scores were averaged. Top scorer was our Graham, [pic 3]dead heating with Leah from SOC, whilst Graham’s sister Rosalind was the proud winner of the wooden spoon. Young Ruby was competing against two older boys In the Juniors but put up a good performance.
