Thanks to Jon Chartres for this report on our September meeting whilst we were enjoying a river cruise on the Rhone! “September club night was busy as usual with a couple of regular Triumphs in the car park. Sue and John our AOs were away on holiday in France. Nights are drawing in now so we spent much of the evening inside chatting, eating and drinking with lots of talk about Triumphs and the upcoming events with a focus on the Christmas Party being held on Saturday 6 Decemberâ€. Just after our return was the 5th Triumph Tour of Devon. Thanks to Jon C again for a superb drive in wonderful weather which drew Triumphs from Essex, Leicestershire and Wiltshire to our lovely county. As we both had a touch of the ‘froggie flu’, we only took the Herald from home to Slapton for the lunch venue and in that time the horn push landed in my lap half a dozen times. Hopefully now fixed! Our annual joint North / South lunch at the Countryman took place on a lovely autumn day. Four Triumphs met at the House of Marbles for a run over the moor to the venue. Mike & Jackie and us in Stags, Dan & Simon in the 2500 estate and Graeme & Barbara in their Spitfire. Not so many out this time, due to holidays, sickness etc but nevertheless we had a fantastic carvery again. One to repeat next year. October’s Club Night saw only two Triumphs out, John M’s lovely Mayflower in which he braved heavy traffic with closed roads, and Richard’s Vitesse. Other classics in the car park were a nice H reg Escort, a Mini Cooper and Matt’s gorgeous Mk 1 Golf. Despite low numbers of cars, the pub was packed with members as usual.
