My earliest memory of the Triumph Herald in 1964 was my neighbour’s brand new Red and White Herald 1200 convertible, I adored that car and tried to get a ride in it at every opportunity.
Many, many years later I joined the Club in 1980 as Membership Secretary as well as Council of Management member, including Office Manager, Finance Administrator. One of my favourite experiences over the years was in 2004 when I took part in 100 most popular classic car cavalcade voted by readers of Practical Classics magazine. This involved circuit laps at Rockingham Motor Speedway in the Club’s Vitesse convertible, I was the only female driver and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of driving on a banked circuit.
I have lost count of the number of Triumphs owned over the years, one of them being a GT6 MK111 previously owned by founder member Glyn Ridgewell. I am currently driving a GT6 MK111, TR6, and a Scimitar SE6A. All of which give a varied driving experience and all bring a smile to my face, especially out on the open road.
I have spoken to by phone and met so many members over the years, a lot of them have become long term friends both in the UK and overseas. It’s always a pleasure to meet up at our various events throughout the year.
