March area news

Hi all! We had a great February meet at the Apple Tree Inn.
Chrissie and the gang were very welcoming and put on some
great food. We had a few more members at the meet than
previous months and we also had a visit from Nigel Kenneison
from the Devon area. Nigel kindly brought us some application
forms for some of the shows in the Devon area including
Classic car day at Killerton house – Sunday 12th May
(Entries in by April 22nd)
Powderham Castle - 13th-14th July (Entries in by May
20th)
Lyn Valley Classic - 9th June
Tigers and Triumphs @ Dartmoor Zoo – 16th June
(Entries in by June 1st)
I have emailed out the entry forms for the above events, if
you did not get my email please give me a ring or drop me
an email.
During our meet we confirmed that we are going to head over
to Porlock for drive it day on April 28th. The current plan is
to congregate at the Toby carvery in Taunton just off of junction
25 of the M5 at 9.45 and pull away at 10. We will then
take the scenic route over Exmoor down into Porlock and stop
for a spot of lunch.
A week or so after our meet I had the pleasure of attending
the Devon area meet at the Claycutters Arms. It was great to
catch up with everyone and meet some new people in the
club. Thanks again for being so welcoming.
I managed to make some significant progress with the herald
this month. Since I bought the Herald I have had an annoying
rattle that over time has progressed into a horrendous
continuous knock at the rear end of the car. I took it to a local
garage who were unable to find the source of the noise and
by this point had got it into my head something rather horrible
was going on. However I decided to have another look
myself. To my relief I managed to track the noise down to the
radius arms! Both radius arms had finger tight nuts and worn
bushes. I also managed to fix a few issues with the carburettors
on the spitfire after a chat with Pete Greenslade on
the phone.
This months meet is on Thursday the 11th at the Apple
Tree Inn at West Pennard (BA6 8ND) at 8pm.
All the best ,

Harry
