Colin Lindsay
Colin Lindsay from Tandragee Northern Ireland and current Herald Register Secretary.
I started with my first Spitfire in 1993 after a variety of Euroboxes and found that just because a vendor says it’s fully restored doesn’t mean it actually is fully restored. Back then my toolbox was two spanners and a hammer. I rebuilt the car almost completely, learning as I went, although I refused to trust my welding and to this day prefer to have it done by family members who are professional welders and engineers by trade. I then acquired a variety of dumped and otherwise unloved Heralds, one of which was actually saveable although the restoration of this Estate has stalled since 2003… I had a number of GT6 but my Mk1 has stayed with me since 2000 and was completely rebuilt in 2004 / 2005 and has since gained a number of trophies and awards. I currently own three Heralds and one GT6 and work on a variety of local cars as their owners come to me for parts or assistance. Currently I am rebuilding a 1964 1200 convertible which should be finished by 2014; not as a show car but a fun car to enjoy without all the polishing…
I became GT6 Register Secretary in 2001 and Herald Register Secretary as soon as I realised I was working more on Heralds than GT6, however I believe in light technical articles and fun rather than deeply mechanical Registers which appeal to the very skilled few and leave the rest of us wishing there was paint we could watch drying… :) Get out there and drive!
