Am about to fit a second head gasket in as many weeks and before I go any further I was wondering if you guys advise using gasket sealant on a head gasket
or not? If so what sort?

A Vitesse 6 would originally have had a shim steel gasket. The factory recommendation with this type is to use a product called "Wellseal" which I'm
fairly sure is still available - never used it myself but I've seen it in one of my distributors' listings.
If you are using a modern type composite gasket then no sealant should be necessary, except for a thin smear of Blue Hylomar around the oil gallery at
the lefthand rear of the block,
Cheers,
Bill.

Only use a very small amount around the oil feed, block to head, hole and then ensure the hole itself is clear of sealant.
Do not use sealant on any other part of the head gasket.
