Am looking for suitable period radio/speaker for 1969 Vitesse convertible. Must look right for age, good working order even if it doesn't look great!
Need to drown out those rattles with some music.
Can anyone help please?

Hi Simon
I can't really help with supplying one but if you want the right radio for the car then you should be looking for a Radiomobile 1070X.
Cheers

I Just wanted to say that this picture is of the Radiomobile model as fitted to my late father's October 1974 Triumph 2000 Mk.2 (long since
gone to the knackers yard)
Sadly, this is most likely one of my final mails to this website, as my TSSC membership expires at the end of August, and because of mortage
payments, which naturally must come first, I regretfully, for the first time since March 1981, simply cannot afford to renew this year.
I have every single TSSC publication since July 1977, and my Courier collection will now become incomplete..
I have had a great deal of fun whilst in the TSSC these last 24+ years and look forward to the day when I can rejoin.
Until then, May I wish the TSSC and all members the very best for the future.
Kind Regards

Leon
Sad that you are not renewing your TSSC membership you have been a great asset/ambassador for the club over the years. Good luck in the
future and keep driving that Vitesse! You should really be offered honoury membership for all of the work you put in!
Looks like I might be joining you next month in being an ex-member, only because I am pruning back my memberships as I simply can't benefit
from all the clubs I am a member of in the time available! Most of the monthly magazines I get now simply go straight to the magazine rack
un-read, allthough I am an avid reader of the various on-line messageboards and Triumph Yahoo groups. I think my Triumph club membership's
will stabalize at around the 3 or 4 mark, which is enough for anyone!
Cheers

hi leon,
We've never met.
When you posted your 'retirement' I had a look at your profile, and thought, 'what a shame for the club that he has to go'.
An honorary membership? What a good idea!
haste ye back.

Simon,
I did a couple of articles on the subject last year in June and July 04 Courier. These should be of some use in knowing what to look for.
The Radio shown by Ian is the later type fitted to Triumphs from around late 1969, early 1970 on.
The radios can be found at autojumbles, but the mounting kit and speaker are now quite rare but do appear now and again.

Simon,
I don't know where you are, but if you can collect it from Windsor, you can have this one.
Please don't ask me to post it.
Radiomobile 1095. Don't know if it works or not.

Hi Wayne,
Do you still have the radio? I'm happy to purchase it from you if you still have it.
Kind regards
Steve.

All,
It's not a mistake, but please note this topic was started by Simon on 16th August 2004 NOT 2005.

Well he's probably got one by now.
If anyone else wants it, they're welcome to it

That keeps happening, is it just people not seeing the date, or is there a bug in the messageboard and it puts them in the wrong order.

The radios fitted by the dealers and seen in the road tests are the smiths Eadiomobile 970 and 980.

I think people are not looking at the date of messages. Seems to have happened more since the message board changed formats so the default is
to view messages by the topic and not date order unless you click the 'Latest Messages' link.

sorry folks, looks like I didn't read the date and replied a year later!!! I might be slow but get there in the end.
dave, you mention the 970 and 980. Was the 1070 fitted to later cars (1971)?
Cheers

The 970 and 980 was fitted to the early Mk11. The 1070 is ok from mid 1969 on.
