Just purchased a '71 MKII Convertible!!

Well that's done it! Smashing little car in signal red, runs well, looks great, just hope it all goes well from here. Off to the area meet tonight, I guess this is where the learning really starts. How easy is it to remove and re-varnish the dash and door cappings? And are cappings available for the rear section, around the aperture for the hood?

  I have been looking into getting the dash and cappings rejuvenated on my Mk2 saloon. The people to speak to are Chapman and Cliff (http://www.chapmanandcliff.co.uk).
  
  The dash and cappings are actually veneered and laquered and not varnished. Apparently, you can varnish them, but you need lots of coats and sanding in between to get a good finish.
  
  The prices for re-laquering from chapman and cliff seem reasonable enough too, so there's little point in messing about. I've not got around to sending mine off yet, but I plan to before winter sets in.

    I second the Chapman and Cliff option. I sent my dash and cappings to them and they have returned my dashboard to as new condition. It's a pity they don't do bodywork!! Speak to Phil Cliff.
    
    Check out the pic of how my dash looks now. I just hope the rest of the car will be half as good when complete.
