SU's on Vitesse MKII

Hi all
Ok, for Vitesse MKII read Bond Equipe 2L MKII, but it's effectively the same thing I believe!

My "MKII" has SU carbs fitted, and the time has come to recondition them. The front carb won't come in to balance mainly due, I think, to throttle link rod "slop".

My problem is that I don't know which SU carbs have been fitted, and therefore which service kit or even recon carbs to buy. The carbs currently fitted look to be HS6s, although I don't know this for sure. However, I can say for certain that they are visually identical to the twin carbs on the Triumph TR7 (I have a set of those and have compared them). The MKII carbs in question unfortunately don't have the ID tags attached to the dashpot screws.

I have no idea if the inlet manifold on my car (reading previous threads) has been changed to allow the fitment of SUs or which other model of car (Triumph) my SUs have been taken from. One clue is that the whole engine and ancillaries (including carbs) could have been changed "wholesale" from another car, as the distributor has no rev counter connector, which makes me wonder if the engine (and carbs) are from a Triumph 2000 MK1. I'm just guessing here, I might be barking up totally the wrong tree. The engine number is HC54224HE.

Anyway, in order to sort the carb problem once and for all, I am willing to buy a pair of recon carbs, or invest in all the service parts. Does anyone know, therefore, which SUs might currently be fitted to my MKII and/or which SUs SHOULD be fitted?? I am even willing to put the correct Strombergs back on, if I can find some and if the manifold question can be answered. I just want nicely running carbs!!!!!!!!!!

I have posted some pics of the current setup in my profile.

Any help will be very much appreciated!

Cheers
