I believe Triumph made 4 types of Rostyle Trim:-
1. The first type to fit the GT6 & Mk2 vitesse has no hole in the centre of the trim and the retainer section that holds the trim onto the wheel is
deeper than the other types, these are quite rare now new, in fact I've never seen any on e-bay or at Autojumbles recently.
2. The second type was to fit the 2.5PI these are similar to the GT6/Vitesse mk2 ones however the retainer section is not as deep and the outer edge of
the trim touchs the tyre, under hard cornering it is possible for them to fly off! they also have a small hole in the centre which was for the fitment
of the BL Logo badge.
3. The third type was for the Stag and again is similar but has a Oval hole for the Tyre valve due to the Stag having 14" wheels, I think these came
with the centres black painted and plain shiny finish.
4, The fourth type was for the TR5 & Early TR6 and are to suit 15" wheels, so no good for our cars.
I have the type 2.5PI ones fitted on my Vitesse with the 4.5J wheels and have previously fitted them to 3.5J Herald wheels many years ago.
I have made special brackets that fits under 2 wheel nuts and enables a 2BA Stainless dome head screw to secure the trim in place to stop it flying
off!
If you do a search on the Vitesse wheels section there's quite a few messages posted.
TD Fitchetts are selling New sets of the PI ones which they have converted to suit the GT6/Vitesse Mk2, But they're not cheap.
They PI ones do come up on E-bay occasionaly, thats where I got mine from

Hi Gary
Thanks for your quick and very detailed reply!!
It appears that the trims i am buying are 2.5PI trims so thanks for clarifying that.
Is it possible that you can let me have the details/dims of the bracket that you made as i would like to follow this route?
Cheers for now

I never kept any details of the dimensions, just made them first by trial and error using thick cardboard templates, then they were made out of
about 1.5mm thick stainless plate, about 30mm wide and formed into a top hat sort of shape.
I drilled the 2 holes for the opposing wheel studs slightly oversize, so that they did'nt interfere with the proper tightening of the wheel
nuts onto the wheel rim.
I taped a 2BA Thread in the centre of the Top hat section of the bracket so it lined up with the hole in the centre of the trim.
I've been told by someone else who has the 2.5PI Trims fitted on his Vitesse that they have never come off on his Car, He doesn't have the top
hat bracket fitted, I suppose it all depends on how fast you corner and what make of tyres are fitted?
I have Michelin Tyres, standard 155 section and the trims almost touch the edge of the tyre, on the proper GT6 & Vitesse trims theres is
about a 1/4" gap.
Hope this helps

When you say "I drilled the 2 holes for the opposing wheel studs slightly oversize, so that they did'nt interfere with the proper
tightening of the wheel nuts onto the wheel rim are you referring to the holes in the top hat bracket or in the wheel itself? I would be
very wary about doing anything to the wheel stud hole in the wheel, as that area is very highly stressed. Some other cars with similar
types of steel wheel are prone to cracking in that area, which can result in the wheel actually leaving the car!
If you mean that the wheel nut clamps the wheel normally, and the top hat engages the upper portion of the nut's taper mounting face, I
would have thought you needed to make the hole in the top hat quite a bit bigger than the wheel stud to ensure there is NO interference
with the wheel/nut interface.
I bought some Vitesse wheels at Stoneleigh 2 or 3 years ago, and someone had pop rivetted top-hat sections in a similar fashion to yours,
no doubt for the same reason. These were between the stud holes to give free access to the nuts, and at the top of the well into which the
wheel nuts are recessed. This is next to the pressings which retain standard hub caps.

Thats correct Chris, I meant the top hat bracket holes are drilled oversize so they don't stop the wheel nut tightening onto the rim
correctly.
Like you say I did'nt want the bracket to interfere with the secure fixing of the wheel to the hub.
When I tighten up the 2BA Screw in the middle of the trim this takes up the slack in the top hat bracket and stops it rattling.
I've been using the car for over a year now and its been fine.
