I have a set of original Vitesse Mk II wheels which I plan to have shot blasted and refinished. Would welcome any views on what is the best way to finish
them eg stove enamelling, powder coating, painting. Any pitfalls to avoid. Am also looking for a very good set of correct rostyle covers - does anyone know
of a set? Thanks in advance. Steve.

Powder coating provide a nice finish but I've not been very impressed with the longevity of it - it seems very brittle and surface prep seems to be
ultra important. I have heard say it can be porous too but I've no experience of that. I did have a go with a kit myself some years agao and that was
great but v messy and quite expensive (I borrowed a mates kit so didn't have the initial outlay to worry about).
I think a good etch primer and then a coat of 2 pack paint would be about as good as it gets. The parts on my car that were prepared like that are so
far standing up to it.
No experience with the durability of stove enamelling - the parts I have have never been out of the garage!

Hi Stephen
I wanted a steel finish on our 1500 Spit, and used a can of " Hammerite steel wheel paint " spray paint from Halfords, the wheels had been shotblasted
and then primed before applying the paint. Two cans should do a set of 4
with lightish coats rather than a couple of heavy applications
They have lasted around 10 years and still look good,

Steve, Power coating is long lasting and well worth doing.
Mary's GT6 has stove enamel on Mk111 wheels. The finish is superb and hard wearing apart from some stone chips.
Because the enamel is hard it can break and chip off if hit by a large stone.
Having said that it has been on the wheels for 10 year so I guess some wear is to be expected
