My Mk1 2L Conv Vitesse has real electrical problems. Starter Motor is stuck, Lost overdrive, wipers, brake lights etc. etc. Need advice quick!
Can anybody recommend an Auto Electrician that would have a look and complete any work at reasonable rates?
Wouldn't mind a small independant car restorer who would work on a fixed fee per month basis to get the car back to being 100%
I live in Grantham, so within easy reach of Nottingham, Leicester, Lincoln etc.
I'm starting to worry that the car will slowly rot away in the garage if I don't start using it soon.

I'm no expert on car electrics, but i got mine sorted out.Make sure that the fuse's,all two of them ,are good and that thier contacts are clean and
dry, check all the earths including, and especially the battery earth and engine earth.Mine suddenley came to life after a couple of hours cleaning up
contacts in various places around the car.The overdrive contact had moved, over time, and merely needed a bit of gentle persuasion back towards the
passenger side.Try rocking the car backwards and forwards in gear to try and free off the starter,or remove it and give a service. The brake light
switch is under the brake pedal, again, clean the contacts and check the earth for the lights in the boot.Sounds like a general clean up is more than
likely what is required.
Hope your problems are as simple as this.

Simon
I'm aware of a firm in Lincoln called, inspirationally, Auto Electrics or something similar. I would recommend trying yell.com though, to find someone
more local, as there's bound to be someone nearby. In fact as i type i've just remembered a Triumph resto. firm in your area that has recently joined
another Triumph club. I'll try and find their details for you and post again.
Good luck.

I think they may be called MSM Classics, in Sewstern.
01476 861357 ... although i can't be certain. Give them a call, and ask if your membership will get you a discount!
