Just refitting the locking mechanism etc. to a door that i had reskinned a few years ago, couple of questions..
Anyone know where i can get the screws to hold the striker plate and lock to the door.
Did all convertibles have the anti burst catches as the tub seems to have the holes for them but the doors don't,these were rescued from a saloon in a
scrapyard,Lastly how does the catch move down to hold the door shut when closed, mine seems to stay in the up position and do nothing.I wish i had started
this before SEM as i could have picked all the bits up there.
Cheers

Dave Rumens should be able to give a definitive reply, but to the best of my recollection:
Yes, all convertibles had the anti burst catches, and they should have them fitted.
While saloons did not have these catches, and some VERY early doors did not have the right shell to fit them, many saloon doors can have catches
fitted. You should find that there are dimples in the rear face of the door, but no holes drilled. This is where the catch should fit. If you find that
the captive nuts ARE welded to the inside of the door frame, then you need to be careful in drilling through the shell so you do not damage the nut
threads. If there are no nuts fitted, you can either tack weld nuts on AFTER drilling the door shell, or simply use loose nuts, preferably nylocs or
use lock washers to prevent them coming loose.
No obvious answers re countersunk screws, but they are the same for any Herald/Vitesse door (and maybe other Triumphs as well).
From what I recall, it is the catch plate on the B post which tends to move the "bar" of the lock into the horizontal position, and when it goes "over
centre", the internal mechanism holds it down until released by the internal handle or external push button.

Thanks for the replies,i have the bits that go on the tub but can't find the bits that go on the doors as i stripped them 20 years ago, really
annoying now i'll have to spend £25 plus on e-bay to get some more.
