Hi,
Does anyone know how many Vitesse 1600 saloons there are known to the club?
I'm trying to work out if mine is worth saving. I really don't want to break what might be a rare car (to be honest I don't want to break it at all!)but
space is an issue.
Thanks

I would hazard a guess it is in double figures, maybe even just into 3 figures.

Hi Tim,
I don't know how many are left, but they certainly won't be making any more - once it's gone it's gone forever. Unlike the Vitesse 2L Mk2 Convertible,
I believe there is an active breeding programme for these....

Cheers,
Bill.

In the 1970's the 1600 was out of favour and this resulted in a large percentage being scrapped. I am glad to say the situation has now changed as they
are now valued for that early 1960's feel only found on the 1600's.
I have noticed that more and more 1600's are starting to appear. I would guess several hundred have survived, may be more.
Is the 1600 worth saving definitely YES.

Good news - I've managed to find someone who will restore this car back to it's former glory.
The new owner is a retired panel beater/sprayer so it should be an excellent job! The best thing is he is not interested in how much the car will
be worth when it's finished, or how desirable it will be.
That was the problem I had trying to find a suitable new owner - no one wants 1600 saloons! Up until this latest chap the only offer I got was from
someone who wanted to break it so he could put a convertible back on the road.
Alls well, that ends well!
