Can anyone tell me the differences between the saloon and convertible rear tubs? Is it just the framework that the rear seat back attaches to plus the soft
top frame attach points, or are they totally different. I need a new rear tub for my convertible but am having trouble finding a good one and was wondering
if it was possible to transfer the necessary bits from my rear tub to one off of a saloon (of which I've found a good one).

Don't bother, there are loads of diferences and the only real way to do it would be to transfer the whole top section above the wing seam. More work
than is desired usually. Without wishing to use this board as an ad space, I have a rear tub for a convertible. Still needs work but it is better than
most,.. intact spare wheel well and most of boot floor. It is due to go in the bin very shortly so make me a quick offer if you are interested.

Where abouts are you? Any chance of pictures to assess the condition.

It needs localised work around boot corners and at the base of the wings at rear and at B-post. Don't get me wrong it isn't a 5min job but like
I said it is better than many convertible tubs I have seen or sold! Top skin is all present and correct. I am in Darlington Co.Durham. Sorry no
photos. The car was in South Africa until '78 and I think that has helped it's current state

So apart from the boot corners, the rest of the floor pan is hole free? What is the state of the inner arches? Do you have any valances
etc?
I live in Nottingham and am definitely interested but I want as much info as poss before hiring the necessary to transport it back
here.
Cheers,
Paul.

No I wouldn't go that far, it has had work around the base of the B-post and adjacent rear 1/4, needs more. Needs a bit at the ends of
the panel under the back seat and attention to the boot corners as mentioned. At the moment it is advertised free to collector in local
Ad-Mag, It is still on a poor chassis with reasonable bulkhead also. If you want it, it's yours. But please don't expect something that
you can have on in 5 mins. Like I said it needs work but is definitely saveable. No valances worth having.

So "The car was in South Africa until '78".
Was this a white car or BMW ?

Oh yeah it was a BMW, I mistook it for a scabby old Herald. No wonder those wheels wouldn't fit!
