My Vitesse Mk2 with overdrive has a slightly hissy/whiney gearbox which I planned to "treat" with a local (?) product - Nulon for Gearboxes - which is
essentially a PTFE derivative. BUT a couple of locals have said that such products and overdrive are a definite no-no................under no circumstances
........don't you dare ...etc.etc
Opinion and advice please ? Thanks ----------------martin

A definite no.
You need the friction for the OD to work.

Hi Martin
I guess by now you have probably done what ever you were going to do with the G box. The reason in case it wasnt made clear , why you cant add PTFE to
an O/D g box is, that the O/D has a clutch plate (conical in shape rather than flat but still works the same as the foot clutch type flat ). It
requires friction to grip.
If you put ptfe in thr box the clutch will get coated and prevent the clutch from 'gripping'. You would end up with a gear bos that would be slipping
all the time. Its possible in a worse case scenario that you could not even get up to top gear as the torque rises with out complete drive slippage /
failure.
Hope this helps.
