Hi, Just had a total gearbox & overdrive overhaul. Went out last week in the car & she went like a dream. Went out in her today & when I
engaged overdrive, there was a terrible clicking noise from the gearbox. I took off the surround to check where the clicking was coming fron & altho
not wanting to cause damage, switched on the ignition, engaged 3rd gear & quickly switched into o/d. The problem seems to be coming fron the black
cable at the bottom of the box area. I'm sure you know the cable I mean. I have a warranty that'll sort out the problem, but if anyone can tell me an easy
fix, I'll sort it out myself as the weather is still fine & the hassel of taking her back.... Thanks Chris

Sounds as if the solenoid is the problem since it will be that which is clicking. When you engage overdrive it should click just once. But before you
get a new solenoid, it is worth checking out all the wiring and connections, and all the other components in the overdrive circuit. A poor connection
or dodgy switch or relay contact at any point could give the symptoms you describe.

Cheers Chris. Yes it does sound like the relay click when you engage o/d. That one click is now click click click etc. Looked for bad connections
but it all seems ok. Chris
