I've been investigating the reason for the sudden speedo failure in my converted to overdrive 1600.
After much cursing, trapped fingers etc I managed to remove the angle drive and comparing it to a new one it seems that a quarter inch section of the old
drive has sheared off and is still inside the gearbox.
Does anyone have any handy hints/tricks of the trade that may enable me to remove the offending item without too much trouble?
Thanks
Graham

You could try and pull it out with small piece of steel rod with together with a strong magnet magnet as the drive bit that snaps off is made of steel
wire.
Just a thought, good luck!

If worst comes to the worst, you may have to remove the speedo driven gear from the overdrive casing. I think it can be extracted in situ
(certainly the gearboxone can be on non-OD cars). That way you can attack the little devil in comfort.

I had the same problem on spitfire. Had to remove the drive from gear box and the was able to extract offending artical from the dirve gear by
pushing it back through from the back of the drive gear. If that makes sense. PS drained some oil out before removing the gear.
