Hi,
Was just wondering if anyone has fitted a In Line Pressur Regulator to their Vitesse 2lr. Where did you get it ? and where did you fit it ? and did it work
?
Sorry for all the questions but im wondering if its a viable thing to do to my car.this could be part of the fix im on atm to stop my carbs flooding.
I have got two new needle valves and a new fuel pump on the way and was waying up fitting a Pressure Regulator as well to finally stop the Flood.

The very nature of the type of mechanical fuel pump fitted to Triumphs (and also, the SU type electrical pump fitted to the competition!) is inherently
self limiting in pressure. If you are using the right pump, you will not get excessive pressure in the fuel line.
If you want to lower the fuel pump pressure, you could fit a spacer between pump and block, (so the pumping spring doesn't get compressed so far on
each stroke) or, I suppose, cut a coil or two off the spring within the pump so it doesn't "push so hard" against the diaphragm.
A Malpassi Filter King is the Rolls Royce solution, limiting pressure and filtering fuel, but there really should be no such need if you have clean
fuel, the right pump, and decent float valves set up correctly.

Has anyone actually fitted one of these to thier Vitesse and if so where did you locate it, and how does it perform.

I have one, and you do not need to get the filter king type with the big filter.
You can get it just with the fuel pressure regulator.
I got mine from Southern Carburettors in Wimbledon, London, last time I was over in Sept 2004.
I mounted it on top of the LH engine side valance close to the alternator.
Malpassi's are about the only decent regulator at a good price.
I have filters with renewable elements elsewhere in the system.
I have triple sidedraught Webers and Facet Red-Top Electric Fuel Pumps, and fuel pressure is critical with these carbs.
The normal mechanical pumps are a little on/off in their pumping action, but I am not sure how this may affect the overall pressure.

No, you do not NEED to get the filter, but as Andy has been reccomended a filter previously - and the price difference is a few quid - you
would be a total idiot NOT to get the filter model.

Im going to go the regulator / filter route if for nothing more than peace of mind.Think i need to explore every possible route to find
a solution to this ongoing carb problem
overkill it might be but worth it in my opinion as this as driven me crazy over the last few weeks.
I now dream of driving my car more than 30 miles before the carbs flood.......................One day soon i tell
myself.....................

Not neccessarily a total idiot.
Where do you get replacement filters for the filter king?
How much do they cost?
If you do not have a Malpassi dealer nearby, how difficult/expensive is it to get the required filter?
Seperate filters and units with replaceable filters are readily and cheaply available almost everywhere.
Also, it is a good idea to have a filter inbetween the tank and the fuel pump, to protect the pump itself.
Just a few points which may be overlooked.

The filters are available from most dealers who sell the FK - plus I understand it comes with a spare.
You are absolutely right, the Triumph pump, as discussed, is very susceptible from crap in nasty old tanks, so a pre-pump filter is
always a good idea, you will probably need to replace this every 5000 miles!
The pre-pump filter is more beneficial than a post-pump - but as your getting a filter king - it won't do any harm
