Hi All
When trying to get my broken three way adaptor thingie off I managed (with no effort whatsoever!) to break the banjo bolt. The head came clean off (ooer!!)
but the rest is firmly stuck in the inlet manifold.
What's the best way to get the remaining bolt out without damaging the manifold. What is the manifold made from?
Thanks
David

This was the first job I ever did on my Vitesse at the tender age of 18. What you have to do is get a bolt - cheapest possible, the same size as
the hole you have - ie it has to fit inside the remains of the banjo and fill the hole. Now weld that to the remains of the banjo and with the
manifild still quite hot (ie wait 30 seconds after welding) you carefully turn it out - the heat should break the corrosive seal and the bolt gives
you something to turn - this worked a treat with me and was my first use of an arc welder in anger. I took the complete manifold off and did all
this on the bench - makes life easier.
Was it really over 20 years ago? I bet it's no easier now than it was then!

With great difficulty.........is it a MK1 or MK2 and what carbs has it on it?..........i have a spare stromberg manifold. The differing metals"weld"
themselves together, steel and ally, never done it but it looks a bugger of a job.

it's a Mk2 with standard carb set up. I want to try and keep the original manifold so any advice on getting the bolt out would be great.
Thanks

Splash out on two large drill bits of the correct sizes to drill out the old bolt in stages and the correct large tap and be bloody
careful............Good Luck......my spare manifold is for a MK1.

First weld a bolt, that will take a socket, to the remaining section. Then use heat, oil and the socket/bar to remove the remaining threaded
section.

I gave the manifold to a friend who welded a bolt on and eventually got it out. Thanks for the advice all.
Cheers
