start?
Anything and everything Vitesse.

Engine, cooling system, fuel system, exhaust system.

After 3 months (but only about 300 miles) of trouble free (apart from a new water pump) Vitesse MKII motoring I had my first breakdown today.
It was particularly embarassing as I was on a roundabout at the time - "Look at that stupid tw@t driving that old thing - no wonder its going nowhere!"
Still, probably more embarassing for my 10 year old daughter than it was for me!! We eventually limped the 3 miles home, stopping for breath another 3
times on the way.
Anyway, I digress. The problem is that I have fuel in the tank but that it is not making its way smoothly into the cylinders on a consistent basis. I'm not
sure exactly what I did each time that made it fire up again, but it was something in the combination of rocking the car, jiggling the fuel lines and
priming the fuel pump.
Where should I start?
1. Carbs;
2. Fuel lines;
3. Fuel pump; or
4. Somewhere else?
Answers on a postcard please!

Hi Ian
As you seem to have had no follow up?
Although it could be a fuel filter blocked the fuel pump filter.
When I had a similar experience overtaking a taxi, which then roared, pass me as I limped along on 3 or so cylinders.
Well thatÂ’s what it felt like.
It turned out to be the diaphragm in one of the carbs.
I would undo the four screws on the top of each carb and have a good look
At the diaphragm they are notorious for failing.
Hope this helps

What the hell do I know.
Wasn't fuel after all - had plenty of that (see later post) - was problem with sparks. Sorted by taking off 6 month old dizzy cap and putting on
the previous one!!!!
