I've read Derek Giles article in this month's Courier concerning the soldering of leaking trunnions and the first thing which springs to my mind is: the
trunnions are an oil well on which the front suspension and steering depends. They are meant to hold oil. If they leak, they are sub-standard and faulty
and should be returned to the supplier for replacement. If you've ever had a front wheel drop off due to worn trunnions you'll know how serious this can
be, and any supplier who sells what is a potentially dangerous piece of equipment which could contribute to death or serious injury on the roads should
have the offending article returned to him asap for replacement. I'd advocate testing the trunnions as described before fitting; any which leak should be
returned for properly made items. Anyone agree with me?

Hi Colin,
The currently available trunnions (unless there has been an improvement in the last 6 months) are not fit for purpose. I won't sell them, I advise my
customers to seek out NOS Stanpart trunnions, or to thoroughly check and clean secondhand parts for re-use.
I won't sell any part which I wouldn't fit on one of my own cars......
Cheers,
Bill.
