This is actually a notorious Triumph trader based in South London. Please be careful when bidding for items on his list. I have been informed that some are substandard, others don't get delivered, and there are exorbitant delivery charges. Also, in my own experience, he rarely answers email queries before, during or after auctions finish. A case in point: I made several email enquiries regarding some of his items, which appeared excellent. I never got replies. Thinking it was a delay in the system, I nevertherless placed a bid on an item. Throughout the time of the auction, I continued to make enquiries, as I was bidding on an item he had priced in US dollars. No replies. I subsequently won the auction, and discovered to my horror that I was charged $25 extra for a local delivery of a package which would normally cost &163;3. For further information, send emails to the buyers who have placed negative feedback on his account.

  There are lots of Triumph suppliers out there on eBay shifting stuff and using it to reach a wider market. Some hide behind a username, some don't.
  People like Terry Man in Chelmsford have been trading high volumes on eBay for ages. The likes of Chic Doig recently started being visible. Mark Field and his Jigsaw outfit are there too. Some use their own name, Rarebits have shifted some small items and Quillers have traded overtly for a while. Canley Classics have just started -

  Traders are usually the ones with the high P&P - they have to pay someone's time to post it whereas the private sellers are usually at cost. Traders will avoid Paypal's high charges and use their own credit card facilities. Don't be frightened of querying the P&P costs before you bid, ask a "Question of the seller" so people can see their response. eBay allows "reasonable" costs - if it's excessive say so - you don't have to bid, just know what you're getting yourself into. If the seller can't be bothered to reply to your emails, treat it as a warning and expect trouble. I know it's easy to be smart after the event but eBay is nothing more than a faceless car boot sale - bargains, crap and rogues in equal proportion!
  
  There's nothing wrong with traders on eBay at all, in fact I think it's good for everyone and the cars, it gets the shelved spares back out in circulation. However, like you'll find dealing direct, there are good and bad. If a trader is a pain sitting behind his counter and gives you poor goods and bad service, then he's not going to be any different on eBay. It's just a shame that eBay is being used to offer some truely poor service and to shift some really ropey gear.
  
  Watch out also for an age old problem in auctions - the seller shell bidding on his own item to bump up the price. I heard today of just such a case - I'm not sure of the facts so I won't mention any names but it does happen and always will. You just need to know what you want to pay and stick to your price, know if the otem is available direct form the trade and at what price. If the thing you wanted was massaged by a shell bidding scam then it will be back on eBay soon enough

    It seems we've all found out about a certain suppliers 'shill' bidding and they have been banned - well the Id's I knew them to be using have been suspended. I too don't have all the details, but two seperate sources have confirmed the storey independantly - one of them came almost 'straight from the horses mouth' too.
    
    The daft thing about it is the supplier in question could have put the items in an ebay shop for 5p per item (regardless of quantity) per month and set a fixed price or a decent reserve for a few pence.
    
    Jason is right, if you guys want your triumph bargains, you need to set your price and stick to it and don't forget you will also have to pay for postage. It's when bidders forget these rules that you find second hand items selling for more than the new cost. The reason being that the bidder gets into the mind set that the simply must beat the other bidders - which is silly as they end up being a loser in the end and so does the supplier who could've supplier the part for a lesser cost AND you get warranties with suppliers too.

        I have just bought an item off this trader on ebay, and had NO problems whatsoever, i payed be paypal on the sunday evening and the part was on my door step tuesday morn. also ive not found any problem with the part.

          Ian,
          I only advise caution, as with all eBay transactions. I agree that some of his products are excellent, and represent good value, and are genuine. But others will know he can be very rude and unco-operative in the event of a complaint. Honest traders on eBay don't need to cloak behind a pseudonym, but are up front with eBay shops and invite bidders to visit their own websites.

                Come on Ray!
                Use a bit of detective work....have a look at the 'chrome' tax discs (that don't stick on the windscreen) he has on offer, and then log on to the well known Triumph dealer's (South London) site and look at the ones he's got - same photos. Nuff said? Let's finish it now, and all be vigilant when buying off the net.

                  Sad isn't it that even with a fresh new identity to trade under this outfit is soon up to the old tricks. Reading the listings I'd certainly be wary of a seller who spends more words telling you how they can wriggle out of a problem than they do describing the item. I've sold hundreds of items on eBay and have never once had to resort to that kind of cautionary listing, personally it puts me off bidding. Now the seller could have had their fingers burnt in the past so sometimes it's neccessary but nevertheless, it isn't inviting or reassuring.
                  
                  Bottom line - if in doubt, don't bid and don't buy. Unless the item is unique you have plenty of choice to deal with good people selling quality stuff.
                  
                  I've just had great service from an eBayer, I cocked up and actually bought the wrong thing, no one's mistake but mine. I emailled the seller on the off chance that they's take the thing back and exchange it for the right thing - yup, an email straight back with a polite response. The item will be exchanged with the min of fuss and cost. Easy and my embarrasement at my own error is minimised!

                    Do please beware of sellers who state that postage will be calculated after the auction ends - this often means that it will be adjusted depending on whether or not the item reached a high price. I've been charged &163;14 carriage on a four pound plastic light lens and was threatened with negative feedback if I did not pay (not sueStumpy, by the way). This is a very unfair way of making extra profit on the deal - at &163;1.30 postage cost and a 99p envelope, if it takes ten minutes to pack and label the item this means a pay rate for handling of &163;70 an hour...not a bad pay rate!!

                  I've had a good look at this Ebay member, and concur with your suspicions about who it really is.
                  
                  He has some interesting feedback, and would appear to be quite trigger happy with the negative feedback in "revenge" for neutral feedback.
                  
                  One buyer, who suprisingly gave positive feedback sums it up well - Caveat Emptor !
                  
                  However, in defence of this South London (well just south of the river) Triumph Trader, the adverts are fairly clear, you get what you bid for, and it's your own fault if you don't read the entire advert, including the small print.
                  
                  If you don't know the new retail price of an item, and bid an excessive amount for a new or 2nd hand item, then thats your fault, not the traders.
                  
                  As for not using the true company name in the adverts, many of the other traders do the same, but they normally make it obvious in the advert who they really are, such a Chic Doig or Jigsaw.
                  
                  On a more serious note, Suestumpy's adverts make no mention of including or excluding VAT, in fact the ebay.com adverts in US dollars state "Sales Tax: No sales tax applicable anywhere", which means that if VAT is included in the bid price, then they are trousering the VAT if the item is sent to a buyer outside the EU, and if VAT is not included, and not being charged to any buyer, why ? - Knowing who I suspect this trader really is, I find it difficult to believe that he is not VAT registered, but that is one for HMC&E to look at.

              Message board rules prevent "naming and shaming" a trader, so you will have to do the research yourself.
              
              You could try googling for "South London Triumph Spitfire Herald Vitesse Classic Car Specialist" and several of the 113 hits will lead you to the name of this supplier.

                I've just read through this trader's feedback and he/she has very good feedback on the whole save some negative comments due to what looks like misunderstanding of the product description on the part of the buyer. I am alarmed at the bashing that some people get on this forum.
                
                Ebay is great but, as other people have said, you have to be careful and check the vendor's feedback and read the product description carefully. If the description leaves something to be desired and you can't get more information then do not bid. I have bought a number of items on ebay and one time, my first, I paid over the odds for an item as I got sucked in to the 'must have' mentality when I could have gone to any trader and bought the same item for less. This was my fault and not the vendor's fault.
                
                I do not think that this particular trader has a bad record so should not be slated. 98% positive feedback or whatever it is means that he/she is nearly always very reliable. There may be the odd instances where the buyer has been dissappointed with the product or service but that is the nature of auctions.
                
                Please can we avoid airing negative views like this and a previous thread where a trader was slated as there seems to be questionable merit in airing such grievances when the 'accused' is unable to defend themselves. This is like non-objective reporting in bad elements in the press where an unbalanced report gives us all the wrong impression of the issue/person in question.
                
                Maybe I should quieten down now but this seems like character assassination to me. I note that someone in the thread bought something from suestumpy and was satisfied with the product provided and the service received.

                  I have always found the most useful part about the feedback system is seeing how a trader/ebayer responds to negative or neutral feedback. Suestumpy (whoever it is ) is very quick to throw their weight around if a trading partner doesn't give them glowing feedback. I pity the poor fella that gave him/her a neutral response only to be completely slagged off in return.
                  
                  Whether this traders goods are what they are described or not, good quality or not, that kind of attitude stinks. I have always been neutral in this particular topic, but after reading the responses I don't think I'll ever (knowingly) deal with them.
                  
                  There is a saying in business that you can tell the quality of a company by the way they deal with problems and this ebayer is quite adamant that any problems are the buyers!!

                  The board thrives on everyone's experiences, good bad and indifferent. To censor views is wrong unless they are illegal (using the rules of the board) defamatory or insulting. In which case then yes they should be taken down by the Club's officers in order to safeguard the Club from any legal problems.
                  The trader suspected of being "suestumpty" is a TSSC member or at least has access to this board and is perfectly capabale of either posting a message saying "This is not me and has nothing to do with me" or confirming "Yeah, on the weekend I'm sue" so please don't think this is in any way one sided. There is indeed loads of positive feedback in the eBay profile and only a few bad. There's enough for me to decide that I don't need to trade with that seller, or at least the risks apparentl to me for the parts so far offered are too great to entice me to bid.
                  These message board posts are just people expressing their right to free speech and using the message board to do so. I'm not interested in what this person sells or why they react so aggressively to criticism. I am just just interested in why they appear to hide behind an alias and list so defensively. In the interests if sharing experiences and opinions I think this is healthy discussion and what being in a Club is all about. If by expressing an opinion I can save someone a few hassles then I'm happy.

                      I am afraid my warnings to members have proved correct in that I have neither received the item I bid for or had any reply from 'suestumpy' to my emails. If you remember, I won a bid which proved extremely good value but which was loaded with a heavy postage cost. With no communication from the trader, I reported the matter to eBay, and they provided me with the traders 'phone number'. The number was unobtainable, and upon further investigation was found to be a non existant code and number. The Investigations Department of eBay are now handling the matter. From contact with other negative feeders, it seems this has happened before when bidding has proved unfavourable to 'suestumpy', and after intervention from eBay a refund has been given to the winning bidder whose items were supposedly 'lost' in the post.
                      I repeat, act with caution when dealing with this trader.

                        You're doing the right thing, you just need to keep ploughing through the eBay system. I've only ever had one similar problem with a non-paying bidder and although it took ages I did eventually get my fees back in full.
                        As for items lost on the post, I know it happens, out of several hundred lots I;ve personally sold only one has ever gone astray - I replaced it but then "followed" the buyers transactions on eBay and found that lots of things were not quite right with his buying and selling - I think I was "done" but as the item in question was cheap to me I merely banned him from ever bidding on any of my lots again and left it at that.

        I think you must have the wrong eBay member, Ray.
        This is the page, and it is 99.9% Triumph stuff. There is no doubt who it is if you compare the ram pipes on offer, to those in his official web site under 'new parts and accessories/ram pipes'.
