Hi everyone,
I am about to respray my spitfire mk3 but unsure about the colour, i seen a e-type at the nec last year
and its paint job was gunmetal silver, that was last year and it looked great but i need to refresh my memory, so can anybody
send me a picture of a silvery gray car or put me onto sombody who could help me.
I have spent loads on my spitfire and i do'nt want to spoil it now so PLEASE help me. Thanks Pep.

Metallic paint invariably looks horrible on a Spitfire.... at least that's my opinion. Anyone with a metallic Spitfire feel free to try and convince me
otherwise,
Cheers,
Bill.

Bill,
In general I would agree, especially if the colour is fairly flat.
BUT... a good "candy" layer over metal flake looks fantastic, especially in a deep red or green, but one needs to have very very deep pockets to
get a paint job of the right quality to make it look good - it's effectively the same amount of work as three or four complete resprays in a normal
colour. The Germans are particularly good at this type of paintjob, and many of their Spitfires and GT6's have paintwork to die for.
Are you going the Beaulieu or the Triumph World picnic this weekend ?
