Anything and everything TR. Talk about anything from the first TRs to the last TR8.

I've been buying bits and bobs for Triumph cars for a while now, in the hope that one day I'll put together a race spec car. Anyway, last month I bought a
TR6 engine (with a CP vin and associated PI injection) off this bloke whose selling the remnants from his old car. I noticed he had a gearbox, propshaft
and diff too, which at the time I didn't have the readies to part with. Does anyone know what type this box is likely to be, and whether it's worth getting
hold of? I do know that it's not an o/d, but that it was much lighter than my 'J' type o/d. Also, what about the diff - what ratio is it likely to be? Is
the prop stronger than most others?
Finally, what should I be paying for these, should they be in good nick?
Cheers,
Mark.

The diff ratio should be 3.45:1. Gearbox is unusual if it has no overdrive. Precise ratios depend on age, there being a change in 1971. The earlier
ratios have a slightly lower first, but higher 2nd and 3rd. Not much to choose from, and both boxes the same basic design and pretty strong.
