Hi
As a new member and the new owner of a TR4A can anyone help as I havent got a manual yet.
Car runs fine but when hot the idle speed tends to drop and the engine can stall.
Also the engine tends to run on for a few seconds after the ignition is turned off.
The car is fitted with an unleaded head but I havent got a clue what the ignition timing is or should be.
Thanks
Dave Murton

Hi david
I'm a TR6 owner so don't know what the ignition timing should be on your TR4. But it sounds as if
thats the problem.
If you don't have any luck on here it may be worth a quick visit to the TR -Register Website. Somebody on there will certainly know

Hi Dave
Mines a TR4, and I had a problem with running on (Pre- Ignition)
The manual says timing should be 4 degrees BTDC
(this might not be right for unleaded fuel)
I'm running at 8 degrees on unleaded Shell Optimax,
with castrol valvemasterplus additive
which hopefully will clean out the coke that must be built up
I have also fitted a Anti Run on Valve from Moss Europe at £60.
Next Weekend she will get a full run up and down the North York Moors
to blow any stray cobwebs out
I'll report back to the Message Board with how we get on.
Regards
Clark
