hi there
I changed the temp sensor switch on the engine and checked out all fuses, they seem ok, however the temp gauge , clock, and fuel gauge all appear to be
dead.... do i need to take the dash apart and if so what do i look for??
any help greatly appreciated.
cheers Stu

I thought all TR7 dashes do not work. On mine the rev counter works when it likes. The speedo is mechanical so no problem there. Temp gauge! when it
wants. Fuel gauge we just trust to luck ( bit more of a problem now with 3.5litre 225hp engine ) The clocks never work. But it's a wedge and a blast.
Gonna have fun at Donnington on Sunday.
Good Luck

Looking at the Spitfire wiring diagram I believe that the fuel and temperature gauges are supplied from the voltage stabiliser so that may be worth
checking. Good luck!

Clock is a seperate issue, they hardly ever work, as for the others, try the voltage regulator in the back of the dash as it feeds 10 volts to both
instruments and frequently fail open cct.
Other possibilities inclued broken flexiprint on the back of the dash or just iffy connectors on to the instrument pod (r.s switch cleaner works
wonders)
ive had all the above in the past and it took 5 new clocks to get one that worked

thanks chaps - I got a replacement from Rimmers and noticed a slightly different connector config at the back.
When I fitted the wires on the 4 terminals, in order of what i thought was the same as the old one, the unit started to fry.
So can anyone help me understand what colour wire connects to which terminal on the NEW UNIT from Rimmers?
There are 2 lots of 2 together, some male and some female and i don't have a clue with electrics..
I suspect if it's been fried it's 12 quid wasted... mmm

Hi there
Spoke to Toby at Rimmers just now, he says everyone here that says there's a voltage stabiliser is wrong, because the TR7 never had one,
the part i'm referring to must be a rheostat or a relay (??) so they can't help me - suggested i send the part back (which they recommended
in the first place) because it's probably for a spitfire or something. Great!
So am absolutely stuffed. i even rang the club but no-one could help.
I've a dash in bits with this little chappy that i suspect i've got a problem with and needs replacing, but no way of fixing it...
anyone know what i could do or where to get the correct part? If the TSSC or Rimmers can't help who can?
cheers

No idea what they are like to deal with, but the company ROBSPORT advertise heavily as TR7/8 specialists. Give them a call and see if
they'll let you pick their brains.

S&S Preparations (no not a piles cure) often get reccomended over on the Club Triumph board, lots of wedge owners there.

thanks alot for that guys,
Managed to get a second hand one in the meantime, now, the only thing is as i was pratting around with the other new one i've
lost sight of where the original wires go on the back terminals....
the rear terminals seem to be marked I, L, E, and B and have the following wires that attach...just need to know which ones go
on which!!!
2 black wires together on 1 male spade,
2 green wires together on 1 female
1 dark green & red on female
1 light green & red on male (sheathed)
help would be greatfully received!
cheers!
