Hi there
My 1981 TR7 fuel gauge always reads full, however much petrol is in there. The low fuel warning light works as it should when low, but i wonder if anyone
could tell me how i rectify the always full problem with the gauge?
cheers all the best Stu.

first disconnect the wire going to the fuel gague sender, (the other is the low fuel warnig light and the third earth) if the gague goes to zero then
its the sender unit
if it stays full its most likely a trapped wire to the fuel sender.
To test for the trapped wire disconnect the battery and use a multimeter set to ohms and check resistance between the body and the wire if short cct
will leave the gague at full
If it was the voltage reg in the dash the water temp would also read incorrectly
There is a small possibility its the gauge its self but i have never seen one fail.
Of the last 4 ive seen like this three were the sender and one was the wire trapped
The warning light and fuel gauge are two seperate circuits on the sender unit in the tank that is why one works and one doesnt
hope this helps
