!500 spit modified engine,
Carbs have been rebuilt, but although i get an idle, there is plenty of spluttering when driving and seriously rubbish acceleration.
There is no smoke from the rear pipe, and the fumes are not petrolly. what do you suggest?
Also, pre rebuild kit on the carbs, the engine would not settle back down to idle straight away, it would take sometimes a minute or two to drop from
1500/2000 revs to 800, i was lead to believe that the kit would solve this problem, (new spindles, butterflies, proper jets etc), but it is still doing it,
any suggestions?
cheers Calvin.

Strikes me you've probably not got the right needles and springs in the carb for the engine mods. Worth making sure the centrifugal and vacuum advance
systems on the distributor are working properly too.
