Forgive the pun.
but av a look at the photo and see what I mean.
what I did was to cut a peice of ply wood the same shape as the petral tank, then drilled holes for it in the same place as the tank bolt holes, and useing
longer bolts, bolted it in place first having cut a round hole not much bigger than a skaffold pole in the middle.
then did pritty much the same for the gear box tunel hole, and using self tapping screws, screwed this (putting the screws first through the original holes
then into the ply, that way till pull it tight to the body with out haveing to make any holes in your car) in place.
then with a long enough scaffold tube and some builders stands, up she went.
with the stands set at the right hight, you can spin her round, grate.
all i will say is (1) make sure the to bits of ply sit like a glove and are held tight.
(2) when the car is on its side, you may need some thing to hold it there as she like to turn back. I used a strap tied to my ceiling joist, I also use
this strap when it is just resting, only cos the scaffolding bends (very little) and it make sure the car dond move when your working on it.
it really really works a treat.
anyone trying it will see it is worth its weight in gold.
good luck with your cars guys and dolls.
ps the hoist was only used to get the tub up, and as it was there, it is used for the strap, also I made some door bars to keep the tub from moving out of
shape, anyone taking there tub of (even if you DONT put it up on a stand) should always make door bars to stop the tub moving.
