Hi There
so the Vitesse is back and I am looking for advice on what I put in the doors before fitting up. Do I go for a rattle deadening spray as original or do I
go for a sticky pad? I need something quick so I can get stuck in so any advise appreciated!
also, trying to find a 4mm thick bitumen based product I can use on the boot floor or my Vitesse, want to put it back to original and I believe this is
what was fitted. Any direction would be appreciated!!!
cheers

David, sorry I can't help on the sound deadening, but the stuff you are looking for in the boot floor sounds very much like bitumen-impregnated
hardboard which was introduced originally I think for lining damp cellars and the like. Not sure if it is still manufactured nowadays, the best places
to try would be large, independent timber merchants or possibly builders mechants. If it proves impossible to locate I would say the next best thing is
solid rubber matting which is available from several different soppliers. Hope this helps.

I've bought some sort of fibre matting to put in my car (when I eventually get round to it), I got it from the Stonleigh show in February along
with spray-on adhesive. I intend fitting it under the carpets but I expect it would be very effective in the doors too. The bad news is I don't
know where you would get some other than attending a motor restoration show - but the good news is there's bound to one near you over Easter
weekend!

David, go to your local autofactors and buy a box of rubberised self adhesive sheets, they cost me £9 a box with about 10 - 12 pads in
varying sizes up to 2' x 2' per box.
These will stick to vertical surfaces like door skins and inside wings and can be softened by gentle heat to flow into ribs or contours.
I also use the large rolls of felt with the bitumen edge, bought at Stoneleigh but easily available on the web.
