Has anyone any info regarding fitting rear lap seatbelts to a 13/60 Herald Convertible? I have bought a pair of belts from the club shop.

Me too, I have just bought a pair for my Vitesse convertible and would like to know the correct way to fit them

I assume we are talking about lap belts here.
I bought a pair for my herald convertible and faced with the problem of how to fit them safely I turned to my wife's Ford Fiesta for inspiration.
(yes they are good for something) The modern car has metal about the same thickness as the seat pan in the Herald but with a big steel plate welded
on. So I went to the local engineering company and had them make up some rectangular steel plates about 10 ml thick by 100 ml long with a hole
drilled through the centre exactly the same dimension as the mounting bolt. Then I simply drilled holes in the seat pan and bolted the whole thing
on with the steel plates sandwiching the seat pan. (the plates on the inside were only 2 ml thick).
It is a two person job to fit and the hardest part was doing up the centre nut which comes out behind the diff.
Mr MOT was very happy with the result and the seatbelts are as solid as a modern car. In an accident the seatpan would distort a little but the
belts would not pull out.
