Hi Tony,
I have owned an Apollo Spray HVLP electric sprayer for the past 25 years, and it is still working !
I have used it many times for panel spraying etc., and have been generally very satisifed with it (although I am by no means a professional paint
sprayer !).
The instruction manual & specifications have long since disappeared (not that I ever really bothered reading the instructions of course !), but I
think it has an output of 30cfm, no idea of the operating pressure, but it is basically an inverted vacuum cleaner.
My only real criticism is that the paint seems to come out quite dry (due to the lack of pressure ?), and therefore it is difficult to get a good
smooth gloss finish straight from the gun, but as I have always used cellulose I rely on elbow grease to polish back to a smooth finish.
Last year I decided to treat myself to a new spraying kit, and I was amazed to see that Apollo sprayers are still available through Screwfix (the model
which seems very similar to mine is called the Apollo Spraymaster), but priced at £199 it was actually much cheaper to buy a 25 litre
compressor & gun kit - so I did!
I have only used this on a couple of small jobs so far, but must admit to being very impressed with the finish I got.
Given that the Earlex kit you mentioned is around £100, and that a compressor & gun set up is around £130, I would pay
the extra & go for the compressor.
Bit of a ramble but hope it helps - in summary, with a decent HVLP system you can definitely respray a car, but with home compressors getting cheaper
all the time, why bother ?
Good Luck whatever you decide !
regards,
Richard

Hi Tony
I agree with Richard's post,
The Apollo is great at blowing in small'ish area's as the control is superb, personnally, I would not attempt to spray a complete car, I used a 50
litre tanked compressor with a good quality gun.
