All,
I am respraying my spitfire in cellulose and wonder if anyone can comment on the quantities I might need prior to ordering from the club shop.
I am respraying the whole car with I suspect 2 coats. (not bare metal and retaining the colour.)
Many thanks
Adrian.

Hi Adrian,
I am going to do a spray job on my own Spitfire soon
and I was looking for details of quantities and came across your thread, I cant believe that no-one has done anything similar and also cant believe
that no-one has taken the time to give any help since last summer Regards, Keith Wallwork.
P,s, How did you get on anyway?.

Hi Kieth
I am in a similar position.
Trying to cost up the materials needed for a paint job but can't seem to find answers anywhere.
How much primer, how much top coat etc
I'm dreading being in the position of half way through and having to order another batch of paint or having twice as much as I need.
If you find out can you let me know.
Can anyone else share some experiences?
Cheers

Join the NASS (North American Spitfire Squadron) mailing list on Yahoo Groups and post your questions there, there are a number of people on
there who do their own paint jobs, one of whom is married to the owner of a bodyshop and has done many restorations.

Sprayed my car during total rebuild, and think I used 6Ltrs of topcoat when I initially ordered 4Ltrs thinking this would be enough. Main
problem was that there was a hell of a lot of waste. A spitfire shell with no doors boot lid etc.. is all small panels & corners so
most of the paint ends up on the floor. Running out of paint & having to wait 2 weeks for more during good weather is extremely
irritating. Over ordering is far healthier, and cellulose keeps for at least a couple of years. Hope this helps.

i dont suppose this will be much help to you but ive just done my own paint job on my vitesse, it all depends how many coats you want to put
on. i've put 5 top coats and used about 10ltrs. its a conv so had no roof to do but did give the inside of the boot and floor a couple of
coats.
i think it cost about £150 for the top coat from a paint shop in hastings
