Hi,
Just bought a 39k miles 1977 2500TC with the BW65 autobox and I seem to be having a wee problem...
This weekend on a long run (80-90miles) lost power and coasted to a stop to see dribble of transmission fluid on the ground after been stuck in traffic for
some time. AA called (I had no transmission fluid with me and I was in the middle of nowhere !) relay home, filled autobox and car ran fine on short runs.
Experienced similar problem yesterday again on another long run. Waited for the engine and GB to cool and refilled again with expensive transmission fuild
and made it home.
I've been underneath the car and everything "looks" ok, but obviously there is a lot of oil about.
...any ideas ?
Thanks
Ken

Hi Ken, sorry to hear about your problems. I remember my father having an oil cooler fitted the auto box of his 2.5Pi many years ago but that was due
to towing duties it was OK otherwise. Sounds like something's blocked (breather possibly?)somewhere due to the low use this car has had. Could be
pressurising the unit and blowing oil past the seals? What colour was the fluid in the box?If its black and smells foul then you have a poorly box
although at the rate yours is using oil I doubt it has a chance to get dirty! If you get no other joy, I did know of a good auto box looking for a home.
can check if still available if you want?
