Justin,
Forgive if you are well aware, but I think you will need considerable chassis rail mods to fit the 2.5 gearbox. A Vitesse/gt6 box will drop in and
stand the power easily. You will need the Vit/Gt6 flywheel and engine back plate too. I may be able to help you there - I need to check my garage
store.
On the dizzie, a Vit/GT6 one will slot right in too.
Another thing to watch out for: The T2.5 carb version mounted its engine at a slight slant, while the Herald's engine is upright. The 2.5 inlet
manifold was canted to place the carbs horizontally. This lifts them so that they face slightly down towards the engine in the Herald, and creates a
bonnet clearance problem for the front carb, if they are SUs. Strombergs may avoid this (again, I may be able to help you!).
Some feel that this angle deranges the float chambers - I don't - and even if you are concerned and want to use the HS6s, their float chambers are
adjustable for angle! (with a bit of fettling).
Anything else I can help on, I'll try.

James,
Gosh - I've no idea! Never been near this problem.
But you have a V8 in there and you want the straight six lump - are you mad!!!!!!!!!! (Smiley)
Just seen your correspondence on the Stag Forum - they know more than I do. I also did a quick Google and found a 2500 estate for sale with a
Stag engine! If you can contact the owner, they might have reverse info that would be helpful.
If it were me, I''d put the car away and save up to restore the engine.
Good luck
John

If you're interested I think I can get hold of a Rover V8 that isn't knackered, from a friend. e-mail me if you're interested and i'll find
out. It nearly ended up in a Dino replica, and was going for around £350, but don't quote me.
