I'm rebuilding a 2.5 (MM prefix 2.5TC) lump to go in my Vitesse and i have the following questions after stripping it down..
1.the engine had a BW35 box, does that mean i have to get a different backplate,i will be fitting an overdrive saloon manual box(MB prefix). If i do have to
change it,which one for and which clutch do i need.
2.Do you have to remove the head studs for a rebore as i can't shift them.
3.Anyone got a Vitesse sump and front plate lying around as i dont want to buy a whole engine just for the plate.(not a question i know)
4Any recommendations for people to do head work for me.
Any advice appreciated.
Steve

Hello Steven,
Hope this helps:
1. If you haven't worked it out yet let me know. I have one of each (auto and manual) and can look at the differences for you. I know the auto uses
some countersunk screws - but this shouldn't stop you using on the manual.
2. Yes, you should remove the studs. I suggest the usual 2 nuts screwed together; lots of heat; and penetrating oil. If you lie the block on its side
you can usually get enough purchase to shift them.
3. I don't have a plate, but I do have a spare 2000 one - you can chop the side mounts off, and you would never know the difference.
4. Where are you in the country?
Good luck (I'm building a 2.5 for my GT6),
Will.

Thanks for the follow up Will,
The engine is at the machine shop having had the rebore/regrind,i get it back next week.
I picked up a GT6 engine from e-bay for a tenner so i will use the front plate, sump and flywheel from that.
I have been told i need a saloon backplate to go with the box as the alignment will differ from the Vitesse/GT6 one.
I've got the triple Webers so i'm just looking for the 6-3-1 manifold to finish it.
Regards
Steve
