I have some Stag Alloys to put on my wifes MK2 PI, as the original 13 inch tyres are hard to find and expensive. However I want to keep the rolling
diameter the same. According to my calculations 195/70 14 would be the size to go for, however that still limits the choice of tyres, what have other
people fitted to theres and what is the widest tyre you can fit to the 5.5 inch rim?
Thanks.

Garth,
Thanks again for the Lincoln Weekend. Are you still coming down this month?
I had a 2500S which had these alloys as standard. I used to fit 185/70/14s which are standard fitting to Skoda Octavias and easy to find. Having said
that, I've never had any problem finding tyres for our 2000 saloon. Might be worth you having a look when in this neck of the woods.

I have 195/70x14 tyres on Stag alloys on mine. The car is lowered and the tyres are very close to the spring platform on the front struts and I
wouldn't go any wider. 205/70x14 will just fit on the back. I have seen 185/70 on a few cars and I think it looks too small.
195/70 was very common on BMWs, Granadas etc and there are quite a few firms doing decent quality tyres in this size still although they're not
generally advertised. Mine are Goodyear NCT3, although I don't think you can get these any more. Try web sites like mytyres.net.

Don't know if your looking for a specific tyre, but
http://www.mytyres.co.uk/start.html list over 30 185/70/14s and 14 195/70/14s.
Provided you have a friendly local tyre place who will fit/balance for reasonable money these guys tend to be really good value. Worked for me.
