I would assume that anyone who has not supplied their email address has done so because they don't want to be contacted in this way. I think it's safe
to assume that anyone on the messageboard does have email.
Of course (on my profile) I have put my MSN address we/they can use that for conversations etc etc in a similar fashion to what you describe.

We've thought about holding the messages in a member's private message box as part of member profiles, thus negating the need for email. That way members can send each other private messages and you don't need to have an email address or access to your email account to read them.
How does that sound?

pretty much how it works on the other board I use...
and there's a limit of how big your in/out box can be of about 20 messages each...
When you visit the board, if there is anything in there, it just pops up that you've got a message to go read...
Its like a little mini email system I spose, just for board users...
I've tried to contact a couple of people recently that haven't supplied email addresses,.. and obv don't want to for whatever reason...
its just an idea....
