Mechanical FAQ

Craig,
To help another member, I've just posted "how to measure your diff. ratio", again, because I can't remember where I posted it before. Would a Mechanical FAQ page be possible, where regular chestnut problems/solutions and other wise words could be found. New enquirers could be gently referred to that page.

I would suggest that the page is not open like the message board, but has a submissions page attached. An editor, the Technical Secretaries perhaps, would scrutinise submissions and publish suitable items on the FAQ page.

Thank you for your message.

This is a good suggestion, and would probably go along with other useful information, such as engine numbers, chassis numbers, paint codes, propshaft lengths, etc.

We have started to add detailed model spec information to the site at -

Perhaps we should add new sections that are mechanical specific, as opposed to model specific.

Maybe would should rely on a general consensus here on the MessageBoard as well as Technical Secretaries, as not all the Technical Secretaries have the time to scrutinise submissions and post responses on the website.

  Another old chestnut just came up on the Vitesse Forum - stuck clutch. Luckily someone was able to remember a previous thread on the subject. Perhaps you will note this as an item for when you can add the technical FAQ page?

    I think every section should have an FAQ - though perhaps in more cross-model categories - brakes, engine, rear suspension etc
    
    Perhaps members can write articles on how to do various things - or add to the faq - though via an administrator to approve and control it all - most of the information is in the archives anyway - it just needs distilling... ideally it would be a set of really simple questions:
    
    mechanical or electrical
    mechanical - brakes/suspension/engine/gearbox
    suspension - non-roto/roto
    
    etc etc
    
    We probably need a "technical" admin to categorise etc...
