I recently had trouble with the indicator/headlamp dip switch, basically I couldn't get main beam, due to a faulty switch. A new switch was available by
return post from Robsport (purvayers of most Stag parts at reasonable prices). Having obtained the switch I set about replacing it.
The workshop manual talks about removing the steering column, but you don't need to. Just remove all the covers from the column and undo the clap bolt to
drop the column down. You will also need to remove the clamp. The clap bolt is held in place by a very small roll pin, which you need to remove first, but
there is nothing in the workshop manual about this. Until this pin is removed the clamp bolt cannot be removed. Once the pin is out the rest is easy and
refitting is a doddle. The switch comes with its own multi plug, but you will need to make sure that it is centred on the column correctly, otherwise the
covers won't fit back, this may take some fiddling with.
It's not a difficult job and could take about an hour and a half if you knew about the pin first!
Regards
Mike
