Hi can anyone help.
I went out in my stag (original engine) she was warmed up and running fine, but as I approached a roundabout and put my foot on the clutch to change down
the revs dropped and the engine stalled. I pulled over and it would not start without some help from the choke. I wasn't far from home and got back but it
happened a couple more times when I had taken the choke off. I have looked in the haynes manual but it doesn't help me.
Anyone had the same problem please let me know how you fixed it.
Thanks Andy

Expect you've fixed this now, but we had a similarly frustrating problem with our '73 auto. I had to teach some flash Toyota driver away from the
lights. At the next set of lights the car just conked out and wouldn't restart. After the AA couldn't get it started we ended up on the back of a
transporter to the garage where the car has recently had its carbs overhauled. Off the transporter and it started first time!
Next time was driving over the moors. It just died and wouldn't restart. I had a poke around at the fuel pump and hey presto it started again.
Since then it's done it a couple of times, and I've come to the conclusion that it's a sticking fuel pump: sometimes you can hear a ticking sound from
the rear. Got a second hand one of ebay and plan to fit this soon.
Although this is miles to late to help you I thought I'd post this in case it's any help to anyone else!
Cheers,
Ian
