  Looks like the standard mkIV spitfire cover - it certainly looks like the one I've got. Not sure where the cap has come from thought.

      That rocker cover looks standard, but the cap looks like a Herald 13/60 one.

      This looks like the oil cap I had on my GT6 MK2, I think they had these on the Vitesse as well - cerainly not standard for a spit!

    It's not a MKIV Spit rocker cover.
    Could be Herald or Spit MKIII.
    Filler cap looks like Spit MKIII.

  Whatever the rocker cover came from is not the question. Apart from early cars (1147cc and 1596cc ones mainly) which had a simple push on filler cap, the bayonet type cap fitting is pretty much the same on all later covers. So it's a question of getting the correct cap for your engine. I would think it should be like the one you have but without the little breather on the top.

    The cap is from a 6 cylinder probably a GT6 or Vitesse as it has a the small top cap for venting / breathing. The Herald just uses the flat version which is much easier to get these days.

      Yup thats exactly the same as the orginal filler cap on my MkII Gt6.
      
      
      Now onto another thing............ Is that the Alan Fulbrook of Farnborough? Recognise my name? Your mum and my mum were friends and both worked at the Cornhill Insurance i think! Its been a very very long time (probably since we were about 13 since we last saw each other) and if you are who i think you are, how on earth did we both end up buying triumphs!???

  The rocker cover is the same as the one on my early MK3 Spitfire 1967 model with its orignal engine and rocker cover still in place. The cap may well have been used by other Triumphs that need an engine vent type cap as this one is.

      Hi Leon nice to hear from you in the USA. The colour of the car is Triumph white paint code 19.Is your Vitesse going ok? My Herald is taking a rest since I got the Spitfire finished.

        My Vitesse is going just fine,
        
        Needless to say, that getting married and buying a house forces you to re-examine priorities, but I am keeping my Vitesse, taking good care of it and making small, but significant improvements as and when finances allow me to do so!
        
        I have also done a great deal of research on where to get parts of the best quality and at the best prices to keep it going for the foreseeable future.
