It could be a failed head gasket so check your coolant - if the level has dropped of the water cotains oil then that might suggest a blown gasket. Then
check your dip stick, is there any trace of water droplets in the oil? Remove your oil filler cap and turn it over, is there any light-brown sludge
accumulated on it? All these are signs of a blown gasket.
If these prove all okay then I suggest running it gently for a while to see if the smoke/steam clears - but be prepared to switch off quickly!

My guess is it's OK.
The cold, damp weather makes the exhaust emissions more noticeable. The largest product of combustion is hydrogen and oxygen, these combine to produce
water vapour, which then condenses out as the gasses become cooler. (the reason most exhausts rust from the inside outwards.)
That said, I'd back what Steve says about keeping an eye out for othere symptoms!

Thanks fellas, I had a look at the filler cap and it was spotless apart from a nice sheen of oil, the dipstick also seemed to be just nice clean oil. I
think I will get a couple of cans of optimax to top the petrol up as another Triumph fan at work suggested the petrol might have water vapour in it as
well as the exhaust and get it going. Must be time to get the car out again for a nice hot summer of motoring!
