To be fair, I wouldn't buy a bike rack from halfords... I got a nice alu one from my local bikeshop for about £40, the equivalent
inferrior one from halfords was over £80! Not saying dont buy anything else from there, because they are good for some stuff. Mine
goes on my Herald ok, but that has quite a standard deep bootlid, whereas the spit is quite sleek and shallow, so I'd ask if you can check the
fittment of a display model first to save you any hassle.
As for width its all too easy to forget theyr'e there... Ive trimmed a few hedges with mine! As long as you remember theyre there you should be
ok!

.... and if your off to France, the Gendarmes don't take kindly to bikes sticking out beyond the width of the car. You can try removing the
front wheel, but doubt if even that'll work for a spit.
