Thanks everyone for the shock advice...
Can someone give me an idiots guide to fitting a rev counter cable to a Mk3 - I can't figure out where it goes! I tried poking it through the heater box (I
know its meant to go in that area somwhere) - but can't figure out exactly where its meant to go through.
I did put it through one of the other holes in the firewall - and its like an inch too short...
Photo's or diagrams would be great!

James,
it really is that simple - ie through the left of the two holes in the heater box and from there dead straight to the distributor. I find on my mkIII
it is stretched absolutely tight, I guess they must have come like that? On my car it goes over the brake line and under the water pipe from block to
heater valve.
Cheers, John

. . . . .but ensure you put the grommets in the bulkhead .Otherwise the cable does not seat square and the heater impellor hits the outer casing of
the cable.
PS You can get longer ones ,which I did because after retiming it was too short

Ok, thanks Mike and John.
I shall have to have another go - I did almost get it in the right place then... I don't have any grommets though... what an odd place for it
to go through though!
I may chicken out if I don't manage to get it to fit and buy a longer one...

Even if you get a longer one it still has to go thru the heater box to keep it square to the rev counter thread.
Its just easier, longer,to screw onto dist mount without trying to stretch.
Without grommets it will bounce about

PS when you feed the cable through the orifices ,pvc tape the knurled nut to the cable so it does not move
