Hi,
I have a Spitfire MkII which does not have a commission plate. Is the chassis number stamped on the chassis as I want to check it against the number on the
logbook. If it is stamped on the Chassis, can you let me know where.
Thanks

The number on the commission plate and the log book is the VIN number. My car had a small plate showing this number underneath the commission plate,
but it does not appear anywhere else on the car.
The chassis number is a different number and if I remember right it is stamped on a metal plate about 3/8" by 3" spot welded to the front LH chassis
rail (or was it the outrigger?) near the brake union.
This could give you an idea when the chassis was made by comparing with other people, but it probably won't be any more useful than that.
