Having had unhealthy cruntching noises followed by no more clutch about a month ago, I took my gearbox out of the car, this was rapidly followed by little
bits of friction plate, which I have assumed to be the problem. I therefore decided it was time for a new friction plate, which I have now fitted using a
fitting tool to ensure things were lined up correctly. The rest of the job was done by putting things back in reverse order that they had come out in. I
have refitted the gearbox and connected everything up only to discover I still have no clutch. I bled the hydraulics (just in case) and still have had no
joy. Having read my Haynes manual, it appears there maybe things I could have missed in the reassembly phase, unfortuneatley, I don't really understand
what it's on about, but see no obvious reason for what I've done not having worked and neither does my resident triumph consultant (my Dad - who has a
TR2).
Has anyone got thoughts on things that I could have easily overlooked. I have come across references to an adjusting rod, but I can see no sign of one
externally on the gearbox, and if memory serves, I don't think I saw one internally either.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Did you replace the whole clutch assembly or just the friction disc? There's not a lot to go wrong in fitting a clutch but it doesn't make sense not to
replace everything as one failed part is likely to wreck the other.

it could be that the friction plate was put in the wrong way round? did you make a conciuose effort to put the side of the friction plate with
'flywheel side' facing the flywheel side? if you did then it's something else, if you didn't.......

If you've pit the friction plate in back to front, it's more likely the clutch won't release. Are you sure the pushrod that fits into the end
of the slave cylinder is in the correct position? Also possible the dreaded pivot pin has fallen out of its hole in the bellhousing.
