I'm repairing my clutch (the rivets sheared on the driven plate) and noticed that the holes in the release fork (where the pivot pin sits precariously - or
in this case supported by Blutack!) are different sizes - the upper one is about 1mm wider than the lower one - is this normal ?? -perhaps this is where
the tolerance ring/crinkly washer should be fitted or is my fork badly worn?

Sounds like its badly worn - the pin is slightly tapered (so it stays in) - I think... if I remember correctly.
Top tip is to not use the pivot pin - a long bolt is a much better solution... I think a long chassis bolt is just the right size...
